COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Daniel Reynolds has been named the Mountain West Conference Male Field Athlete of the Week as announced by the league on Tuesday for his performances in California over the weekend.
In his first season as a Cowboy, Reynolds took first place at the 2024 Mountain West Indoor Championships in the Weight Throw and since then has been climbing up the Wyoming leaderboards in the Hammer Throw this outdoor season.
Starting off at the Jack Christiansen Invite with a mark of 217-3 until this weekend at the Long Beach Invitational when the junior from Granby, Colo., posted a throw of 227-0 to sit atop the Wyoming record books in the event. Reynolds broke a record that had stood for 25 years, ranks No. 3 all time in the Mountain West and places him 15th in the NCAA so far this year.
Reynolds began his week at the Pacific Coast Invitational with a throw of 220-7 and followed that up on Friday with his record-breaking throw. Reynolds also added a personal best in the Shot Put at 55-2.25 to end his weekend.
Reynolds joins teammate Cam Burkett as the two Cowboys to earn the distinction of Mountain West Field Athlete of the Week honors so far during this 2024 outdoor campaign.
