LONG BEACH & AZUSA, Calif. — The third and final day of action as the University of Wyoming Track & Field teams in California for the Beach Invitational hosted by Long Beach State and the Bryan Clay Invitational hosted by Azusa Pacific University.
BEACH INVITATIONAL
Cam Burkett led the way for the Cowboys in the Shot Put taking ninth place with a throw of 58-7.25 while Gage Griffith jumped into the Wyoming record books at No. 10 all time with his personal best. Griffith went 55-9 to take 19th on the day.
Sam Schneider and Sage Coventry went 6-5 and 6-1.25 to take 21st and 25th in the High Jump.
Elayna Chafee took 24th in the Triple Jump with her mark of 37-10.
Gabby Mendoza-Molina went 1:05.11 in the 400 Hurdles to finish 28th.
Hunter Brown and Remar Pitter went 28th and 36th in the Long Jump. Brown led the way for the Pokes with a mark of 22-11.75 while Pitter posted a jump of 22-8.5
Sadie McMullen, Joan Easter and Nyomi Moore represented the Cowgirls in the Long Jump. McMullen led the group with a mark of 18-8.75 to finish 31st. Easter went 18-4.25 for 38th while Moore jumped 17-0.75 for 71st.
Ava Morgan finished 43rd in the 100M Hurdles running 14.95
BRYAN CLAY INVITATIONAL
Gabby Drube took second in the 400M Hurdles with a time of 58.52. Taylor Weidinger ran a personal best 1:00.22 to finish 12th and move up the Wyoming top-ten list to No. 9 all time.
The Cowgirls 4x400 Relay team took seventh out of 34 teams running a time of 3:45.29.
Jaheim Ferguson went 52.21 in the 400M Hurdles for a top-ten finish.
Jaymison Cox went 47.61 in the 400M Dash to take 19th.
Carter McComb ran a 10.98 in the 100M Dash for a 75th place finish.
Salma Elbadra turned in a 4:16.87. The freshman, who owns the indoor Mile record, enters the Wyoming outdoor record books in the 1500 at No. 2 all time. Madelyn Blazo runs a personal best, 4:27.63, to finish in 28th place in the "Open A" portion of the 1500, while Libby Berryhill goes 4:31.96 in the same heat. Riley Frankel ran a 4:45.75.
The three Cowboys in the 1500 were Trevor Stephen, Mac Zastrow and Tristan Knueppel. Stephen went 3:49.78, Zastrow 3:50.03 and Knueppel 3:56.86.
