LONG BEACH & AZUSA, Calif. — The Hammer Throw record at Wyoming falls and a handful of Cowboys and Cowgirls enter the Wyoming record books as the University of Wyoming Track & Field teams continue their swing out west in California on Friday.
BEACH INVITATIONAL
Daniel Reynolds got the day started with a record-breaking performance in the Hammer Throw. Reynolds, competing for the second day in a row at Long Beach State, went 227-0 to set the new standard in the event at Wyoming. Previously number two on the list, Reynolds improved his personal best from 221-3 and ranks No. 15th in the NCAA during this outdoor season. Reynolds finished fourth in the event today out of 56 competitors.
Mary Carbee and Isabella Reimann also competing for the second day in a row went 187-3 and 170-1 to finish 15th and 35th out of 53 women in the Hammer Throw.
BRYAN CLAY
It was a night of Cowboys and Cowgirls moving onto or up the Wyoming top-10 list in the 5000M at the Bryan Clay Invitational as four student-athletes all ran well and added their names to the list. Ryker Holtzen and Hailey Uhre in the final two distance races of the night for the Pokes posted times that made them both No. 3 on the lists. Holtzen ran a 13:48.85 to get his name on the list while Uhre jumped up seven spots with a time of 16:24.74.
Kylie Simshauser moved up a couple of spots besting her previous PR by almost nine seconds. Simshauser ran a 16:33.72 in her heat of the 5000M. Gus McIntyre moved into the outdoor record books at No. 6 all time by running a 13:59.09.
At the Leopard Distance Carnival, Rozlyn Slichko did the same and entered her name into the 3000M Steeplechase record books. Slichko ran a 10:55.81 to take the No. 8 spot all time in the event.
The Pokes continue their California swing for one more day on Saturday competing at the Beach Invite in Long Beach, and at the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa, Calif.
