COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Cam Burkett has been named the Mountain West Male Field Athlete of the Week on Tuesday March 26th for his first-place performance in the Shot Put at the 2024 Spank Blasing Invite. 

In the first outdoor meet of the season, Burkett wet 61-0.25 to best the field of 29 competitors in Pueblo, Colo., and move up the Wyoming all-time top-10 list to No. 5 all time. Burkett is coming off a second place finish at the Mountain West Indoor Championships in the event and early on in this outdoor season, Burkett leads the Mountain West in the event. 

It is the first time this 2024 Indoor or Outdoor season Burkett has been honored by the conference with an Athlete of the Week honor. 

Up next for the Cowboys and Cowgirls is the Jack Christensen Invite hosted by Colorado State University this upcoming weekend in Fort Collins, Colo.
