COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Freshman Salma Elbadra has been named the Mountain West Conference Freshman of the Week as announced by the conference on Tuesday February 13th.

It is the second time in her short tenure as a Cowgirl that Elbadra has been named the Freshman of the week in the conference. The freshman from Morocco was named the Female Track Athlete of the Week and Freshman of the Week after taking down the Wyoming Indoor Mile record in her first race in the Brown & Gold at the Potts Invitational on January 13th.

This week Elbadra and the Cowgirl distance runners were in Seattle, Wash., at the 2024 Husky Classic. Elbadra ran a 4:35.02 in the Mile to best her own record by two seconds and finished sixth in a strong field at the meet hosted by the University of Washington.

Elbadra ranks No. 1 in the Mountain West with that time and ranks No. 35 in the NCAA with the Mountain West Indoor Track & Field Championships coming up next week.
