Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

LARAMIE, Wyo. (Nov. 5, 2024) – The Wyoming Cowgirls were able to win the first set Tuesday night against rival Colorado State, but the Rams were able to respond, rallying to win the next three sets to take the match in four. Set scores went 26-24, 21-25, 19-25 and 22-25.

Wyoming (14-9, 6-7 MW) controlled most of the first set to open the night, but CSU was able to rally from down late in the set, 23-20, to tie things at 24-all. However, the Cowgirls were able to close the set with back-to-back points to jump out to an early lead. After the Rams (15-8, 11-2 MW) just about led the second and third sets from start to finish, the Cowgirls looked like they would force a fifth set by winning the fourth. However, Colorado State would rally to win the fourth after being down by as many as four points in the frame.

CSU hit .294 in the contest while the Cowgirls hit .238 on the night. Wyoming out-blocked the Rams 9-5 in the contest and also had one more service ace (6-5) than Colorado State. The Rams ended up with a 64-52 advantage in kills and had 14 more digs (63-49) in the contest.

Claire Wagstaff led the Cowgirls in kills for the second consecutive match as she tallied 15 on the night while hitting an efficient .313. Paige Lauterwasser also finished in double figures with 13 kills and was one dig shy of a double-double. Both Kayla Mazzocca and Emma Winter notched eight kills in the loss.

Defensively, Kasia Partyka led UW with 13 digs while Sierra Grizzle had nine. At the net, Mazzocca led the way with six total blocks while Sarah Holcomb added three. Wagstaff chipped in with a couple of block assists.

Partyka once again paced Wyoming with 39 assists. Mazzocca led the way with a pair of aces against the Rams.

Wyoming will look to split the week with a trip to Idaho to face Boise State Thursday at 6 p.m.
