GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (11/21/24) – The University of Wyoming swim team wrapped up day two of the Colorado Mesa Invite while the dive team concluded its first day of action at the SMU Invitational today. 
 
It was an exciting day for the Cowgirls and Cowboys in Grand Junction. The Cowgirls currently sit in second place with 391.50 points and the Cowboys are also in second place but with 324.50 points.
 
The Cowboys set a school record and took second in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:19.27, comprising of Gavin Smith, Jakob Borrman, Luke O'Connor and Quinn Teller. The Cowgirls also came in second in the 200-yard freestyle relay with Tara Joyce, Mikayla Moore, Kali Franckowiak and Veronika Ozimek collectively going a time of 1:31.18.
 
In the women's 500-yard freestyle, Macey Hansen came in second place with a time of 4:52.96. 
 
In the women's 200-yard IM, Kayla Cunningham and Sydney Metzler went two and three, with personal best times of 2:02.02 and 2:03.11 respectively. On the men's side for the 200-yard IM, Andrew Ravegum came in first logging a time of 1:48.02.
 
Joyce and Moore were the second Cowgirl duo of the night to go two and three, but this time in the 50-yard freestyle. Joyce swam a 23.03 with Moore following close behind with a 23.08. 
 
The Wyoming swimmers return to the pool tomorrow at 10 a.m. for preliminaries with the finals beginning at 5 p.m.
 
At the SMU Invitational in Dallas, Alicia Gonzalez was the lone Cowgirl to advance to the finals round in the 1-meter springboard. Gonzalez took sixth with a score of 272.70. Bruno Grau was also the only Cowboy to advance to the 3-meter springboard finals, scoring a 257.20.
 
The divers are back in action tomorrow at 1 p.m. with Cowgirls competing in the 3-meter springboard and the Cowboys competing in the 1-meter springboard.
