Week Three Cross Country Poll Released

NEW ORLEANS (October 7, 2024) – Cowboys remain in seventh and Cowgirls find themselves in eighth in the week three U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Mountain Region Poll released Monday.

Cowboys ranked seventh for the third week after finishing fourth and beating No. 30 nationally ranked Michigan State at the Joe Piane Invitational last Friday. Mountain West foes New Mexico moved up to No. 2 in the poll while Utah State and Air Force landed at fifth and sixth respectively ahead of Wyoming. Colorado State remained in ninth and Nevada stayed in 14th. In the West Region Poll, Boise State ranked eighth.

The Cowgirls fell two spots to eighth after defeating No. 25 nationally ranked Michigan State and finishing eighth as a team at the Joe Piane Invitational. In the Mountain Region Poll, New Mexico was ranked fourth, Utah State sixth, Air Force ninth, Colorado State 10th and Nevada 15th while Boise State remained fifth in the West Region Poll.

Next weekend, cross country will travel to Madison, Wis., to race at Pre Nationals on October 19. The meet will be a precursor to the NCAA Championships being held at the course later this year.
