LARAMIE, Wyoming (10/29/24) – The University of Wyoming soccer team closes out its regular season Thursday. The Cowgirls travel to Colorado State for a 4 p.m. match at the CSU Soccer Stadium.

Wyoming still holds an outside shot at advancing to the Mountain West Conference Tournament. The Cowgirls stand at 4-6-8 overall and 2-3-5 (11 points) in league play, which is tied for seventh. The top-six teams advance to conference's postseason tournament.

"It's kind of my favorite part of the season when you know you need wins," head coach Josh Purdum said. "The tournament for us probably starts on Thursday. We have to win to stay in. We also need a little bit of help. But we have to take care of business on our end and put the destiny in our hands."

New Mexico currently possesses the No. 6 spot in the standings at 12 points. The Lobos host San Diego State on Thursday and a win puts them in. Both Colorado College and Nevada are tied with Wyoming at 11 points. The Tigers battle Air Force on Wednesday night – a win for Colorado College would eliminate the Cowgirls – while the Wolf Pack take on UNLV on Thursday night.

Colorado State doesn't have to worry about its inclusion into the conference tourney. The Rams are 11-4-3 overall and 7-1-2 (23 points) in league action and in second.

Alyssa Bedard continues to move up the all-time scoring list for Wyoming. She netted her team-leading sixth goal this past week against San Diego State, which gave her 17 for her career, and that's tied for seventh. Bedard also has a team-best four assists for 17 points in 2024.

Haley Bartel is making history of her own in net for the Cowgirls. She has eight shutouts, which is the most Wyoming's had in a single season in school history. Bartel, who's played every minute this season, has logged 70 saves with 27 goals allowed for a GAA of 1.50.

The Rams are led by Mia Casey who has five goals and seven assists for 17 points. Maggie Altman also has five goals to her name. Libby Brooker has started the last eight games in net for Colorado State, and she owns 40 saves and allowed seven goals for a GAA of 0.83.

Wyoming has dominated the all-time series with the Rams, laying claim to a 9-1-1 all-time record. Colorado State, however, won last year's matchup in Laramie, 1-0.

The Mountain West Conference Tournament kicks off Sunday. Seeds 3-6 play in the quarterfinals in San Diego, California.
