LARAMIE, Wyo. (Jan. 22, 2024) – The Wyoming Cowgirl tennis team continues action Wednesday with its first of 10 home matches this season. The Cowgirls welcome Buffalo for a noon matchup in Laramie.
Wyoming (1-3) opened the season two weekends ago down in Oklahoma. The Cowgirls began the season with a 6-1 loss at 13th-ranked Oklahoma before going 1-2 at the Tulsa Hurricane Invitational. The Cowgirls picked up a 6-1 win over Omaha at the invite. In singles play to begin the season, Violetta Borodina has paced Wyoming. Borodina went 3-1 two weeks ago, including going 3-0 at the No. 2 singles spot.
In doubles action, the tandem of Borodina and Sophie Zehender have gone 3-0 as a duo, with all three of those wins coming at the No. 1 doubles position. As a team, Borodina and Zehender have gone 12-1, including fall action, and have won five straight matches. The teams of Noesjka Brink and Nikol Dobrilova and Jeselle Ante and Lucia Malinak also earned doubles wins in Oklahoma.
The Cowgirls are looking to continue their tremendous success at home under Head Coach Dean Clower. Under Clower, Wyoming is 55-10 (.846) in Laramie. In the previous three seasons, UW has compiled a 14-3 record at home.
