TULSA, Okla. (Jan. 14, 2024) – The Wyoming Cowgirl tennis team concluded their first week of spring play Sunday as they competed against Tulsa and Omaha at the Tulsa Hurricane Invitational.
Wyoming concluded its contest with Omaha Sunday morning, playing the doubles portion of the match. The Cowgirls, much like they did singles play, dominated doubles against the Mavericks, winning all three doubles matchups. Violetta Borodina and Sophie Zehender at No. 1 and Jeselle Ante and Lucia Malinak at No. 3 both won their matches 6-3. At the second position, Noesjka Brink and Nikol Dobrilova blanked their opponent, 6-0.
Against the Tulsa, the Cowgirls came up short against the host-Hurricanes. Tulsa defeated Wyoming 5-2 Sunday afternoon. Borodina and Brink picked up UW's two wins, winning at No. 2 and 3, respectively. Borodina won in three sets, 6-3, 1-6 and 6-3. Brink, meanwhile, won in two sets, but they both went into tiebreakers, as she was victorious 7-6 (7-4), 7-6 (8-6).
UW is now off for over a week and returns to action January 24. The Cowgirls host Buffalo at 4 p.m., that Wednesday. It will be the first of 10 matches at home this season for Wyoming.
