DENVER, Colo. (Jan. 13, 2024) – The University of Wyoming swimming and diving team wrapped up the final day of a tri-meet with Denver and BYU on Saturday inside El Pomar Natatorium. The team boasted four individual winners and one relay team win during the final day. 

"Our women had a great weekend with several PR times," head coach Dave Denniston said. "We really showcased dominance in the freestyle events and looked really strong both days. Freshmen Katie Ford and Tessa Bendokas had a breakout meet. On the men's side, Quinn Cynor remains undefeated on the year and handled a very talented field in the 200 freestyle to win by over five seconds."
 
On the women's side, Tara Joyce won the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:49.38. Maisyn Klimczak claimed first in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:10.82, which is her quickest time of the season. The Cowgirls finished one-two in the 100-yard breaststroke, as Carly Palmer topped the field with a time of 1:01.02, and Brynlee Busskohl touched second with a time of 1:02.20. Kayla Cunningham tied for second in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 56.48.
 
In relay action, the Cowgirls won the 200-yard freestyle relay. The collection of Palmer, Lauren Swartz, Rachael Horne, and Joyce turned in a final time of 1:32.09. Wyoming placed second in the 400-yard medley relay. Emily Giles, Busskohl, Tessa Bendokas, and Joyce logged a time of 3:44.56.
 
In the men's competition, Quinn Cynor finished first in the 200-yard freestyle, boasting a time of 1:36.17. Charlie Clark touched second in the 1000-yard freestyle after swimming a 9:24.96. 
 
Day 2 wrapped up with Alicia Gonzalez winning the 3-meter event with a score of 309.90. It was her second win of the weekend.  
 
The Cowgirls beat BYU, 224-10, however, lost to the Denver, 184.5-149.5. The Cowboys fell to BYU, 199-135 and to Denver, 216-118.
 
Up next, the Cowboys are at a dual meet in Green River against Utah on Friday at 4 p.m. The Cowgirls' next event is also on the road, as the team travels to Albuquerque on Saturday for a dual meet against New Mexico.
