Game Recap: Women's Soccer | | Bud Denega
LARAMIE, Wyo. (9/3/23) – The University of Wyoming soccer team had to compete Sunday in an unconventional manner. The Cowgirls' match against Northern Colorado started at the Madrid Sports Complex but finished at the Indoor Practice Facility because of inclement weather.

The switch of venue and delay, however, didn't keep Wyoming from remaining unbeaten on the season. The Cowgirls defeated the Bears, 2-0, to move to 3-0-2 on the season, while the loss dropped Northern Colorado to 0-6-0.

"We are a strong and competitive team, so it's always a bummer when our tempo gets disrupted because of outside factors," head coach Colleen Corbin. "But I told the group the maturity they showed when there were a lot of things stacked against them and to still be calm, composed and find a way to get a result, earn a shutout, and protect our home turf, says a lot about where this team is at right now."

The delay occurred during the 54th minute. A little over an hour and a half hiatus transpired.

No matter the venue, Wyoming still found offensive success. Maddi Chance scored for the second time this season during the sixth minute off a feed from Kiley Ballek.

Alyssa Glover scored for the third time in as many games. She took a pass from Eliza-Grace Smith and deposited in the back of the net in the 71st minute.

Glover was one of five Cowgirls who registered multiple shots on the day with two. Jazi Barela led in that department having three, while Taylor Brook, Sydney Miller and Michaela Clark each fired two apiece.

That kept Northern Colorado goalkeeper Kaya Lindberg busy, as she made seven saves on the day. Wyoming goalie, Miyuki Schoyen, turned away three shots in what was her second shutout of the season.

Sunday was also eventful for the fact that it was Senior Day. A total of 10 Cowgirls – Rae Gerking, Miyuki Schoyen, Jamie Tatum, Sydney Miller, Nikayla Copenhaver, Camille Hawley, Amber Vokoun, Keelie Wortmann, Faith Joiner and Hannah Hagen – were all honored before the game.

"I could not be more happy for the seniors, and I couldn't be more happy for the rest of the group," Corbin said. "I appreciate everybody's ability to be bought in today and want to earn a result for the seniors."

Wyoming remains at home Thursday. It plays host to Idaho State at 4 p.m. at the Madrid Sports Complex.
