CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Mason Norman paced the way for the Wyoming Cowboys at the 2023 Wyoming Invite on Saturday Morning leading the field and leading the Pokes to a first-place finish in the first race of the Cross Country season at the Little America Golf Course in Cheyenne.
Kylie Simshauser and Eowyn Dalbec went six-seven for the women to lead the Cowgirls to a second-place finish. The Cowgirls came in no worse than 12th place as they beat Texas Tech for third but fell to the No. 26 ranked Colorado State women. Abigail Whitman, Madelyn Blazo and Leah Christians round out the top five finishers the Cowgirls.
Norman ran a 15:07.9 to win the race for the Cowboys taking first place by a little less than five seconds. Ryker Holtzen, Jacob White, Gus McIntyre and Asefa Wetzel round out the top five for the Pokes with their 21 point win over the second place Rams from CSU. The men went 1-3-5-6-10 to beat the field of eight programs.
The Pokes will get back to work and prepare for the Roy Griak Invitational to be hosted by the University of Minnesota on September 22nd.
