CLOVIS, Calif. — The University of Wyoming Track & Field teams got their 2023 Mountain West Conference Championships started on Thursday night in California with the finals of 10K and four Pokes in the finals of the 400M Hurdles.
Jenae Ramirez and all three Cowboys competing in the 400M Hurdles have advanced to Saturday's final in the event. Ramirez posted a time of 1:00.97 and will be in the sixth position in the finale. Jaheim Ferguson, Carson Kaminski and Caige McComb will all race again after earning their spot with the third, fifth and eighth best times of the prelims. Ferguson posted the best time of the three Pokes with a time of 52.99.
In the first final for the Cowgirls, Eowyn Dalbec took eighth place in the 10K running a time of 35:13.56. Dalbec scored the first point of the Championships for the Pokes. In the last event of the evening Cooper Brown ran a 31:15.86 to take 11th place for the Cowboys in the 10K.
Kaylee Kearse was the first Cowgirl to compete at the Mountain West Championships. Kearse finished in 14th place during the 800M prelims running a 2:12.69 to miss the final by five spots. Mac Zastrow, up for the Cowboys in the same event, finished in 12th clocking a time of 1:56.48 for the Cowboys.

Day two of the Championships will begin for Wyoming at 4PM Pacific Time with the finals of the men's Long Jump and conclude at 8:40 with the running of the women's 3000M Steeplechase.
