COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (April 19, 2023) – For the second time this season, Violetta Borodina has been named the Mountain West Tennis Freshman of the Week, announced Wednesday by the league office.

Borodina, who was also named freshman of the week March 29, went 3-0 overall last week. Borodina went 2-0 in singles play and 1-0 in her lone doubles contest over the weekend. Borodina, who recorded a pair of straight-set victories, opened the weekend with a 6-2, 7-6 (7-3) victory over Boise State. Borodina and her partner, Maria Oreshkina, also picked up a 6-3 win against the Broncos in doubles action. Against Utah State, Borodina closed action with a 6-2, 6-4 win.

Borodina and the rest of the Cowgirls have a chance at history as they close the regular season this weekend down in Fort Collins against Air Force and New Mexico. The Cowgirls can win their first-ever conference crown in program history this week.
