LARAMIE, Wyo. (April 13, 2023) – After suffering their first loss of the conference season and having their six-match winning streak snapped, the Wyoming Cowgirl tennis team looks to get back to winning this weekend with a trip to Boise. The Cowgirls will face Boise State at 2 p.m., Saturday and Utah State at 10 a.m., Sunday to close the weekend.
Wyoming (10-9, 5-1 MW) sits in a tie for first place in the league standings with two weeks left in the regular season. The Cowgirls are coming off a split last week, defeating UNLV 4-3 and losing to San Diego State, 4-1 in Laramie. Violetta Borodina was the lone Cowgirl to pick up two singles wins over the weekend and moved to 11-6 in dual action. Those 11 wins are a team-best this spring for UW.
The Cowgirls defeated both Boise State and Utah State in Laramie last season. The Broncos come into Saturday's match at 9-8 overall and a 2-4 mark in MW play. The Broncos are 7-4 in home matches this season, with two of those wins coming during league action.
Utah State, meanwhile, is in search of its first conference victory and is 1-6 in neutral-site matchups. The Aggies have come close to victory in Mountain West play, having lost 4-3 to Nevada and 4-2 last week at Air Force.
