LARAMIE, Wyo. (March 7, 2023) – After being named to the All-Mountain West Team by the conference media on Monday, Hunter Maldonado earned Second Team All-Mountain West honors by the league coach the Mountain West announced on Tuesday. He becomes the second Cowboy along with Brandon Ewing to be named All-MW four times in a career.
Maldonado averages 14.8 points per game this season along with 4.8 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game. In conference action, Maldonado added 16.5 points per game in conference play with 5.2 rebounds and 4.4 assists. He ranked seventh in scoring during conference contests. He ranked fifth in conference play shooting 50 percent from the field. He ranked in the top-10 in eleven categories.
He also became the conference's all-time leader in assists with 627 in his career thus far. He also became the first player in NCAA Division I history to record 2,000 points, grab 800 rebounds and dish out 600 assists. He has also scored the second most points in conference games in Mountain West history,
Maldonado recorded 20 or more points in seven conference games and recorded double-figures in all but two games. He recorded three double-doubles in conference play. He recorded a season-high 34 points in a contest at San Jose State.
