LARAMIE, Wyo.  (Feb. 22, 2023) – University of Wyoming forward Hunter Thompson had been named to the College Sports Communicators Men's Basketball Academic All-District Team. It is the first time he has earned the honor in his career. He is currently in a master's program in health services.
 
The 2022-23 Academic All-District® Men's and Women's Basketball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes basketball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA — for each gender.
 
Thompson has appeared in 22 games with 22 starts this season. He adds 6.7 points per game and leads the Cowboys in rebounding this season at 5.1 per night. Thompson has appeared in 132 game at Wyoming tying for second all-time at UW. He has knocked down 172 career three-pointers a number that ranks fourth all-time at Wyoming.
 
Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in mid March. The CSC Academic All-District® teams include the student-athletes listed at the links above.
