COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Feb. 13, 2023) – For the fourth time this season, Malene Pedersen was named the Mountain West Freshman of the Week, announced Monday by the league office. Pedersen helped lead the Cowgirls to a pair of wins last week.

Pedersen averaged 11.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game in UW's wins over Utah State and Air Force. Against the Aggies, Pedersen scored 12 points, pulled down six rebounds and dished out a trio of assists while shooting 2-of-5 from 3-point range. In the finale last week against Air Force, Pedersen shot 5-for-6 from the floor to go for 11 points while also adding four boards and four assists.

This is the second time in the past three weeks that Pedersen has received the honor. Prior to that, she took home the award December 12 and January 9. Pedersen and the rest of the Cowgirls hit the road for the final time during the regular season this week, traveling to New Mexico Thursday and San Diego State Saturday.
