DENVER, Colo. (2/11/23) – The University of Wyoming swimming and diving team completed competition at the DU First Chance Meet on Friday inside El Pomar Natatorium. UW enjoyed multiple victories and many top-five finishes.
"We arrived at Day 2 of the First Chance Invite with a ton of energy and enthusiasm," assistant coach Logan Arnold said. "After a great first day we kept the momentum rolling with many in-season and lifetime bests. We are excited to pass off the baton as our next group competes at the Mountain West Championships this week."
Quinn Cynor led a strong contingent of Cowboys in the 200-yard individual medley. Cynor won the event with a time of 1:49.45, while
Luke Slabber and
Luke Walker finished third and fourth, respectively, with times of 1:51.61 and 1:51.93.
The Cowgirls went 1-2-3 in the 50-yard freestyle.
Madeline Bane won, clocking in at 24.33, while
Alex Stein and
Hannah Giles placed second and third, respectively, with times of 24.79 and 24.89.
Lana Jeter touched fifth after swimming a 25.11.
Keegan March took runner-up in the 500-yard freestyle after swimming a 4:36.24. He also touched third in the 100-yard freestyle, recording a time of 46.13.
Veronika Ozimek logged a fourth-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle, clocking in at 52.47. She also touched fourth in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:10.53.
Kylee Theiler registered a fourth-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:18.61.
Zoe Robison rounded out the top-five swims, going a 2:28.47 in the 200-yard breaststroke to place fifth.
Wyoming is back in action during its respective conference championships. The Cowgirls compete in the Mountain West Conference Championships from Feb. 15-18, while the Cowboys take part in the Western Athletic Conference Championships from Feb. 22-25.
