Plethora of Cowboys and Cowgirls Move into Wyoming Record Books Friday

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. & SEATTLE, Wash. — The University of Wyoming Track & Field teams represented the Brown & Gold across two states on Friday competing in the Don Kirby Invite hosted by the University of New Mexico and the Husky Classic at the University of Washington. 

DON KIRBY INVITE 

While the distance runners went to Washington, the rest of the Wyoming track and field teams were in Albuquerque competing at the Don Kirby Invite on day one of the two day meet. 

In the 200M Kitana Burgard, ran a great race going 21.75 for a second place finish amongst some great competing. Burgard enters the Wyoming Top 10 List at No. 2 all time just .04 seconds off of the all-time school record. On the men's side Jaymison Cox went 21.71 for a 12th place finish, improving his spot on the Wyoming Top 10 List from No. 10 to a tie for 8th. 

Kareem Mersal went 24-7.75 in the Long Jump to take seventh place for the Pokes. 

HUSKY CLASSIC 

Wyoming distance runners ran against some of the best at the Husky Classic on Friday. Competing in the 5000 and 3000M runs before the mile is raced on Saturday. Jacob White was the top finisher for the men in the 3000M race. White ran a time of 8:11.95 for a 27th place finish at the meet and to break into the Wyoming Top 10 List in the event at the No. 9 spot. 

Hailey Uhre broke on the top 10 list in the 5000M while competing in the race with teammates Kylie Simshauser and Abigail Whitman. Simshauser and Whitman already have spot on the list, No. 5 and No. 8 respectively. Uhre was the top finisher amongst the group today, running a 16:56.37 for a 30th place finish and the No. 4 spot all time at Wyoming. 

Mason Norman followed suit and ran well in the 5000. Norman ran a 14:05.50 to improve his place on the top 10 list from No. 4 to No. 3.
