GREENWOOD, Ind. (Dec. 12, 2023) – A quartet of Wyoming Cowgirl volleyball student-athletes were named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team. Announced Tuesday by the organization. Corin Carruth, who repeats as an all-district honoree, Kasia Partyka, Rylee Schulz and Zoee Smith were all named to the team.
In order to be named to the Academic All-District Team, a student-athlete must maintain a 3.50 cumulative GPA, be a starter or key contributor that has appeared in at least 90-percent of matches this season.
Carruth, who was named all-district in 2022, appeared in all 121 sets this season for the Cowgirls. She finished third on the team with 311 kills and second with a 2.57 kills per set average. The elementary education major also added 55 total blocks and 341.5 points in 2023 and had 17 matches with 10-plus kills.
Partyka was named to the All-Mountain West Team earlier this season after she led the league and finished 12th in the country averaging 10.74 assists per set. Partyka, who is a psychology major, recorded 12 double-doubles this season and had 20 matches this year with 40-or-more assists, including five with 50-plus. Partyka finished the season with 110 kills and was third on the team with 90 blocks and 275 digs.
Schulz was an Honorable Mention All-Mountain West honoree this fall. The animal & veterinary sciences major led the Cowgirls and finished fifth in the Mountain West averaging 3.28 kills per set this season. Schulz also finished in the top-10 in the league averaging 3.77 points a set. Schulz finished the year with nine double-doubles and had 23 matches where she recorded 10-plus kills.
Smith, who is majoring in secondary education, played in all but one set this season for UW. The senior recorded 16 aces on the year and 32 assists. Smith finished with 200 digs, for a 1.67 per set average and had three matches where she recorded 10-or-more digs.
CSC Academic All-America Teams for volleyball will be announced in January.
