Wyoming Travels to Big 12 Country to Face Oklahoma State Sunday

LARAMIE, Wyo. (Dec. 1, 2023) – The Wyoming Cowgirl basketball team hits the road for its second consecutive contest against a Big 12 opponent. The Cowgirls travel to face Oklahoma State for a noon tip-off Mountain Time Sunday in Stillwater.

Sunday's game will be broadcast live on ESPN-Plus and can be heard across the Cowgirl Radio Network with David Settle on the call.

ABOUT THE COWGIRLS
Wyoming (4-2) is coming off its strongest game of the season Tuesday with its 86-74 victory over BYU in Laramie. The Cowgirls, who led for over 37 minutes of the contest with the Cougars, ended the game on a 23-10 run in the final 3:49 of action. UW went on a 15-2 run immediately after falling behind 64-63 with 4:21 to play. McKinley Dickerson scored nine of her 17 points in the final 3:49 of that game, as she and Tess Barnes took over the game late down the stretch. Barnes scored 11 of her 13 points in the final 10 minutes. Two other Cowgirls scored in double figures in the win as Malene Pedersen scored a season-high 19 points and Allyson Fertig added 12.

On the season, Fertig and Pedersen lead the Cowgirls averaging 11.8 and 11.3 points per game, respectively. Fertig leads UW shooting 56-percent from the floor this season and has a team-best nine blocks and 6.5 rebounds per game. Barnes is scoring just under 10 points per contest at 9.7 per and is second on the team with 14 assists and has a team-best nine 3-pointers.

As a team, the Cowgirls have outscored their opponents by nearly 10 points a contest this season. Wyoming is averaging 69.2 points per game and is allowing 59.7 a contest. The Cowgirls are shooting 45.6-percent overall from the field and is shooting 88.6-percent at the free-throw line. That mark leads the nation for team free-throw shooting. UW also has a plus-three rebounding margin through the season's first six contests. The Cowgirls rank third in the conference averaging 26.5 points a game from their reserves.

SCOUTING OKLAHOMA STATE
Oklahoma State will have a week off in-between games when they host Wyoming Sunday. OSU is 3-0 at home this season. The orange Cowgirls are plus-seven in scoring differential, averaging 78 points per game and allowing 71. Oklahoma State is shooting 46.5-percent from the floor and 36.5-percent from 3-point range. Opponents are shooting just under 42-percent from the field and 29-percent from beyond-the-arc. OSU is grabbing 34 rebounds a contest and allowing 35.2 a contest.

Four Cowgirls average in double figures for Oklahoma State and are led by Anna Gret Asi's 16.7 points per game. Asi leads the team with 18 made 3-pointers and 3.5 assists per game. Stailee Heard is second on the team with 14 points and is grabbing a team-best 6.5 rebounds per game. Heard is shooting 60-percent from the floor and has made a team-high 15 free throws. Heard also has a team-best eight steals. Quincy Noble and Lior Garzon averaging 11.8 and 10.8 points per game, respectively.

SERIES HISTORY AGAINST OKLAHOMA STATE
Wyoming is 1-2 all-time against Oklahoma State and have lost the lone meeting in Stillwater. After losing the first two matchups in the series, the Cowgirls won the last contest against OSU, a 75-71 win in Laramie in the 2011 Women's NIT.
