Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

SAN DIEGO, Calif. (Nov. 9, 2023) – The Wyoming Cowgirl volleyball team rallied to take a four-set victory Thursday night on the road at San Diego State. After dropping the first set 25-19, Wyoming rattled off three-straight sets to win the match. It marks just the fourth time in program history the Cowgirls have won in San Diego.

After hanging on in the second set, 25-22 to knot the match up at one set each, the Cowgirls controlled the third set 25-16 to take a two sets to one lead. In the fourth, UW (18-8, 7-8 MW) enjoyed a big lead as it was up by as many as eight points. Leading 21-15, the Cowgirls looked to be on the verge of victory, but the Aztecs wouldn't go away and eventually took a 26-25 lead. At first, SDSU appeared that it had won the set 27-25 to force a fifth and deciding set, but a reversal tied things at 26-26 and eventually the Cowgirls secured the victory thanks to back-to-back kills from Rylee Schulz and Tierney Barlow.

Wyoming hit .295 in the win while the Aztecs hit .246 as a team. Both teams tallied five blocks each and had eight serving errors. However, Wyoming enjoyed a 9-6 edge in serving aces and also had three more kills than San Diego State.

Kasia Partyka and Schulz tallied their ninth and seventh double-doubles of the season, respectively in the match. Both led the Cowgirls with 11 digs each with Schulz leading the way with 17 kills while hitting .364. Partyka, meanwhile, had 39 assists to go along with the 11 digs and, with Barlow, led the Cowgirls with three total blocks on the night. Schulz also had a team-best three aces while Partyka notched two.

Barlow finished with 13 kills and hit .423. Corin Carruth also had double-digit kills with 10 while Sarah Holcomb ended the night with nine. Holcomb also had a pair of blocks in the victory.

Sierra Grizzle was solid on the night with 10 digs from her libero position and also recorded a career-best nine assists. Zoee Smith added nine digs off the bench while Skylar Erickson tallied six.

Wyoming looks to make it a perfect week on the road Saturday as it travels to face UNLV in the final road match of the season.
