GRAND JUNCTION (11/17/23) – The University of Wyoming swim team completed Day 3 of the Colorado Mesa Invite on Friday. The women remained in second with 672 points, and the men moved up to second with 497 points in competition held inside El Pomar Natatorium.
Both the men's and women's Colorado Mesa teams lead. The men have 1,130.5 points and the women are at 672 points.
The 100-yard breaststroke Friday featured Cowgirls in each of the top four spots.
Carly Palmer won at 1:00.87.
Brynlee Busskohl was second at 1:01.65, while
Lauren Swartz and
Sydney McKenzie were third and fourth, respectively, with times of 1:02.88 and 1:03.19.
Gavin Smith topped the field in the 100-yard butterfly, boasting a time of 47.33.
Reilly Gilbert made it a 1-2 finish for the Cowboys, posting a time of 47.77.
Tara Joyce won the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:48.21.
Quinn Cynor did the very same thing in the men's race after swimming a 1:35.60.
Heidi Billings placed runner-up in the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 4:24.67.
Charlie Clark also finished second in the men's race, clocking in at 3:53.43.
John Wargin rounded out the top-two finishing individuals. He was second in the 100-yard breaststroke, touching in 55.29.
The invitational wraps up Saturday.
