GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (11/18/23) – The University of Wyoming swim team wrapped up competition at the Colorado Mesa Invite on Saturday. For the fourth time in four days, the Cowboys and Cowgirls posted numerous solid performances, and two school records, in what was their final meet of the fall season.

"Two school records and a bunch of lifetime bests highlighted the end of our trip to Grand Junction," head coach Dave Denniston said. "We had a great meet at CMU with too many highlights to mention. It was a fun, fast meet."

Charlie Clark and Brynlee Busskohl were the record breakers, and both won their races, as well. Clark claimed his in the 1,650-yard freestyle, clocking in at 15:26.74 – which is more than 10 seconds faster than the old record – and Busskohl touched in 2:11.43 in the 200-yard breaststroke.

Heidi Billings won the 200-yard backstroke, checking in at 1:58.58. Carly Palmer claimed a first in the 100-yard freestyle, boasting a time of 50.35.

Jakob Borrman won the men's 100 free after going a 45.00. Drew Ravegum touched first in the 200 breaststroke, clocking in at 2:00.31, and Quinn Cynor rounded out the victorious individuals, topping the field in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 1:45.82.

Maisyn Klimczak took second in the 1,650, recording a time of 16:52.85. Adam Pannell also placed second in the men's race, registering a time of 15:42.07. Sydney McKenzie placed a bow on the second-place finishers, going a 2:17.26 in the 200 breaststroke.

The women's 400-yard freestyle relay ended the meet in style. The combination of Carly Palmer, Veronika Ozimek, Rachael Horne and Tara Joyce finished first in a 3:21.49.

Both the men's and women's teams placed second at the meet behind host Colorado Mesa. Noted, Wyoming did not bring divers to the meet, as they were at the Missouri Invite.

Wyoming is done with competitions until the New Year. The next meet is Jan. 12-13, a tri-meet in Denver against the Pioneers and BYU.
