Ruby Young Signs with Cowgirl Tennis

LARAMIE, Wyo. (Nov. 17, 2023) – Wyoming Tennis Head Coach Dean Clower has announced the signing of Ruby Young to the 2024 class. Young will be joining the Cowgirls next fall and is a native of Christchurch, New Zealand.

Young has won multiple titles during her prep career in New Zealand. In 2023, she was the J30 Auckland doubles champion. While in 2022, Young won both the singles and doubles championships at the 16U Kiwi Indoor Junior Championships. Also in 2022, Young took home the J5 doubles crown and made the semifinals of the W25 ITF Tauranga.

She was also a captain in 2022 and 2023 of the Senior A tennis team and placed third at the 2023 St. Margaret's College New Zealand Secondary Schools Championship. Young also placed second at the 2021 championships. In 2022, she also represented New Zealand at the B2 Oceania Junior Championships.

Young is also an excellent student, having received the 2023 Silver Tie with Gold Academic Bar for excellence. She also earned the 2022 Year 12 Academic Prize for achievement in physical education and was a Junior School Prefect in 2023. Young won the Molly Copper Cup for Sportsmanship and Service in 2023 as well.
