Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

FORT COLLINS, Colo. (Oct. 31, 2023) – The Wyoming Cowgirl volleyball team's rally Tuesday night on the road came up short as Colorado State prevailed for a four-set victory. Set scores went 25-19, 25-13, 21-25 and 25-23.

After dropping the first two sets, the Cowgirls (16-8, 5-8 MW) rallied to win the third set. UW led and controlled much of the third set, leading by as many as seven at 17-10. The Rams were able to surge in front in the set to go up 21-19, however, but the Brown & Gold would respond with six straight points to end the set and force a fourth.

In the fourth, UW looked to have control and took a 14-9 lead in the frame. However, much like in the third, CSU (14-10, 8-5 MW) would rally and eventually went in front, 16-15. The two teams would trade points for much of the rest of the set, with the Cowgirls last leading at 21-20. The Rams would take a 23-22 lead and ended the match with the final two points after Wyoming knotted things up at 23-23.

Colorado State hit .307 in the contest while the Cowgirls tallied a .250 team hitting percentage. UW garnered a 9-6 advantage in team blocks but CSU had a big edge in the serve game. The Rams recorded nine service aces to Wyoming's four.

Rylee Schulz paced the UW offense with 18 kills and hit .471. Corin Carruth also finished with double-digit kills as she had 11 and hit .308. Paige Lauterwasser and Tierney Barlow had eight and six kills, respectively in the loss. Schulz also got her sixth double-double of the season as she added a team-best 12 digs.

Kasia Partyka also recorded a double-double as she tallied 10 digs to go along with 42 assists. Partyka also led the Cowgirl defense with six total blocks on the night. Barlow added four block assists while Schulz had a pair of solo rejections.

Tuesday was the first of four consecutive matches on the road for the Cowgirls. Wyoming is now off until Saturday when it makes a trip to San Jose State for a 1 p.m., Mountain Time matchup.
