FORT COLLINS, Colo., and Cary, N.C. (Sept. 30, 2023) – The Wyoming Cowgirl tennis team continued action down at the Jon Messick Invitational hosted by CSU and also began play at the ITA All-Americas in North Carolina.
Noesjka Brink headlined the day for the Cowgirls down at CSU, as she advances to Sunday's singles final in the "Gold" bracket. Brink picked up a pair of singles wins Saturday as she began the day with a three-set battle against Weber State's Megan Davies. Brink came out on top 7-5, 6-7(4-7) and 6-2 to advance to the semifinals. In the semis, Brink won in straight sets, 6-3 and 6-3 over CSU's Zara Lennon.
The Cowgirls also got victories Saturday from Serina Abriola, Jeselle Ante and Adel Ismagulova. Abriola picked up a 6-4, 6-2 win over Willow Gretsch in consolation play. Ante, earned her first victory as a Cowgirl with a 7-5, 6-1 win over South Dakota's Amanda de Oliveria. Finally, Ismagulova won 6-3 and 6-2 over Paige Alters of South Dakota.
Sophie Zehender also began play at the ITA All-Americas Saturday. She was defeated 6-4, 6-1 by Lucia Quiterio of Charlotte in the first round. Zehender will still play consolation match(es) and begins doubles action with her partner, Violetta Borodina Monday at the All-Americas.
