LARAMIE, Wyo. (9/2/22) – Friday at the Madrid Sports Complex featured University of Wyoming soccer head coach Colleen Corbin's shortest halftime speech. As there were certainly plenty of smiles to go around, there simply wasn't much to say.

The Cowgirls had their way with North Dakota State to the tune of a 3-1 victory that featured three first half goals in under eight minutes. The win pushes Wyoming to 1-2-2 on the season and drops the Bison to 2-1-2.

"The message was to impose yourself on them, set the tone, dictate the pace of the game, defend your butt off and continue to make them uncomfortable," Corbin said.

The victory occurs on the heels of a couple draws and a couple defeats for UW. In those results, the Cowgirls played well enough to win and sharp enough to have put up more goals, but it didn't all come together.

Friday it did. And it felt good.

"We talked a lot about wanting to prove people right, not necessarily prove people wrong," Corbin said. "This team has had an incredible amount of support from the start of the year. Those that have paid attention know we have been inches away from getting a different result. It wasn't coming from a place of frustration or anger but from confidence. We know we are capable of doing what we did today."

As mentioned, all the three of Wyoming's scores happened in just over eight minutes. Two of them were just 19 seconds apart.

Senior Jamie Tatum gave the game its first tally, firing one in from just inside the box during the 27th minute. It marked Tatum's second goal of the season and 15th of her career.

She tacked on to that total in the 34th minute, cashing in on a penalty kick, that made it a 3-0 contest. The 16 career scores pulls Tatum into a tie for seventh in program history.

Right before – 19 seconds to be exact – Tatum's second goal, junior Alyssa Bedard made it 2-0. She bested North Dakota State goalkeeper Abby Wilkinson to net her first goal of the season and fifth of her career.

That was plenty of scoring for Wyoming freshman goalkeeper Allyson Fischer who was making her first-career start Friday. She logged four saves and only allowed one goal – in the 39th minute off the foot of Olivia Lovick – on the day.

The Cowgirls peppered the Bison with 22 shots compared to North Dakota State's 11. Freshman Alyssa Glover accounted for five of those for Wyoming, while Tatum and junior Jazi Barela had four each.

The Cowgirls remain at home, playing host to UTEP on Sunday. That match is set to begin 11 a.m. at the Madrid Sports Complex.
