LARAMIE, Wyo. (Sept.14, 2022) – The National Football League season officially opened last week with nine former Cowboys seeing action in the first contests of the season. Josh Allen and Marcus Epps will be featured on Monday Night Football this week with the Bills facing the Titans on ESPN and the Eagles face the Vikings on ABC.
Allen had an impressive week for the Bills opening the season leading Buffalo to a 31-10 win over the Rams in the NFL opener on Thursday. He threw for 297 yards with three touchdowns. He completed 84 percent of his passes in the contest going 26-of-31. He also led the team with 56 rushing yards and a touchdown. He added a highlight reel stiff arm as well.
Marcus Epps had a big week for the Eagles leading the team with 10 tackles and one tackle for loss, as Philly defeated the Lions on the road 38-35. He was one tackle shy of his career-high in stops. He earned the start in the opener for the ninth of his career. Epps will face his former team the Minnesota Vikings on Monday Night Football this week on ABC.
Carl Granderson recorded two tackles for the Saints in a 27-26 win over Atlanta. The Saints face Tampa Bay on Sunday at 11 a.m. on Fox.
Andrew Wingard and
Chad Muma opened the season against former Cowboy Chase Roullier and the Washington Commanders. Wingard and Muma each recorded a tackle in the contest. Roullier earned the start for the Commanders at center after missing half of last season with an injury, as he helped Washington earn a comeback win that saw Washington earn four touchdowns through the air. Jacksonville hosts Indianapolis on Sunday at 11 a.m. on CBS with the Commanders heading to Detroit for a 11 a.m. game on Fox.
Mike Purcell appeared in his 58
th game in the NFL on Monday, but the Broncos fell to the Seahawks 17-16. Purcell recorded one tackle in the contest. The Broncos host Houston on Sunday at 2:25 p.m. on CBS.
Logan Wilson recorded eight tackles in the season opener, as the Bengals fell to the Steelers 23-20 in overtime. Wilson had six solo stops and two assisted tackles earning the start for the defending AFC Champions. The Bengals face the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday at 2:25 p.m. on CBS.
Safety Tashaun Gipson recorded three tackles for the 49ers in a loss to the Chicago Bears.
