TEMPE, Ariz. (July 11, 2022) – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) announced its academic awards Monday.
For the 10th time under Head Coach Dean Clower, the Cowgirls received the Team Academic Award, while four student-athletes were named ITA Scholar-Athletes. In order to be honored as a team, a squad must have a cumulative team GPA of 3.2 or above for the 2021-22 academic year. Scholar Athletes must have a GPA of 3.5 or higher for the academic year.
As a team, the Cowgirls had a GPA of 3.43 in 2021-22. Alyse Cormier, Mihaela Kaftanova, Ida Krause and Maria Oreshkina all received the Scholar-Athlete award. It marks the second consecutive season Cormier received the honor, while Kaftanova and Krause both earned the accolade for the fourth consecutive year.
A total of 37 Cowgirl student-athletes have been named Scholar Athletes under Clower.
