COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — University of Wyoming Track & Field student athlete Kareem Mersal has been named as the Mountain West Men's Field Athlete of the Week as announced by the conference office on Tuesday May 3. 

Mersal is coming off a second-place finish at the 2022 Fresno Invitational where he set the new Long Jump standard at Wyoming with a leap of 25-6.25. 

The sophomore from Cairo, Egypt has had a stellar season and currently leads all Mountain West Long Jumpers while being ranked at No. 7 in the West Region on the 2022 Outdoor Qualifying Rankings. 

Mersal is coming off of a 2022 Mountain West Indoor Track & Field Championship in the event and will look to match that in two weeks at the 2022 Outdoor Championships to be held in Fresno, Calif., from May 11th - May 14th.
