LARAMIE, Wyo. - The Wyoming Track and Field squad is set for another trip to the Centennial State this weekend as they head to Colorado Springs, Colorado for the Front Range Open hosted by the Air Force Academy. 

This will be the second outdoor meet of the season for the Cowboy and Cowgirls as they look to build off of a strong opening meet a weekend ago at the Spank Blasing Invite.

Last weekend five Wyoming athletes picked up event wins highlighted by a sweep in the 5000M. The distance duo of Mason Norman and Kylie Simshauser both ran to first place finishes while also punching their names in the UW record books. Norman ran a converted time of 14:07.47 to put him in ninth all time in program history. Simshauser clocked a converted time of 16:32.72 which is good for third all-time in the Cowgirl record books. 

Two Cowboys also picked up wins in the field events last weekend. Nathan Reid picked up his first win of the outdoor season in the men's discus with a toss of 180-09 earning himself a spot on the all-time top ten list in the event sitting at tenth. Kareem Mersal carried over his winning ways from the indoor season taking the crown in the men's long jump with a best leap of 24-11. Along with the win Mersal's performance vaulted him into fifth all-time in program history. 

Jaheim Ferguson also picked up an event win last weekend racing to a first-place finish in the 400M Hurdles with a time of 53.46, finishing almost two second ahead of the second-place runner. 

The Front Range Open is set to begin at 11:30 a.m. MT and will be a full day of competition for the Cowboys and Cowgirls.
