LARAMIE, Wyo. (3/25/22) – The University of Wyoming soccer team is slated to begin its spring schedule this weekend. The Cowgirls travel to Regis on Saturday for a 11 a.m. contest at Regis Match Pitch.

It has been just under five months since UW last took to the pitch to close out the 2021 regular season. The time away from competitive action has afforded the Cowgirls an opportunity to improve in many different aspects.

"One of the biggest focal points this offseason has been to really hit the weight room hard," head coach Colleen Corbin said. "We want to really develop in our strength, our speed, our power and our overall endurance."

The weight-room work will grant Wyoming the chance to tweak and adjust its game plan. The goal is to have the flexibility needed to try numerous formations and different offensive and defensive philosophies.

"We want to be able to try some different things, look at different formations, and look at people in different spots, playing different positions," Corbin said. "We are exploring a lot of different things."

Wyoming completed the fall with an 8-10-1 overall record. The season included many high points, including a record-setting victory over Nevada and a Senior Day win over rival Colorado State.

An area from the fall that needs improvement is the Cowgirls' performance away from Laramie. And with four of the five spring games on the road, the next month will allow Wyoming to grow and hopefully improve on the road.

"We are looking for our team to bring the same mindset and the same energy we have at home to the road," Corbin said. "We want to be able to go to different places, play teams in different conferences, at different levels – that are all going to bring something different to the table – and be able to adapt and still compete at a very high level and walk away feeling as though we put our best foot forward."

The spring slate features six games against four different conferences, two different divisions and a power-five school. The schedule – shown below – concludes with Wyoming's lone home game set for April 23, which is part of Alumni Weekend.

March 26, at Regis, 11 a.m.

April 2, at Colorado School of Mines, 7 p.m.

April 9, at Northern Colorado, 12:45 p.m.

April 9, vs Denver (at Northern Colorado), 2:30 p.m.

April 16, at Colorado, 2 p.m.

April 23, vs Metro State, 1 p.m.

April 24, vs Wyoming alumni, 10 a.m.
