LARAMIE, Wyo. (3/14/22) -- It is 1:45 in the morning and I am sitting in my bed with the adrenaline just now wearing off.
Today has arguably been one of the most nerve-wracking, yet exciting days I have ever been a part of. The famous Selection Sunday Show took place inside the Gateway Center right off Grand Avenue on the campus of The University of Wyoming. I am sitting in the front row with
Hunter Thompson to my right, and
John Grigsby to my left.
You can feel the intensity inside the Gateway Center, and it is only getting stronger.
The fourth and final region has come up on the big screen. The east region. We knew this was our last chance to get into the tournament. At this point, we knew a play-in game was going to be imminent. We were going to take whatever the committee was going to give us.
First announced was St. Mary's as a 5 seed and we knew this was our chance as a 12 seed. Then came WYOMING/INDIANA across the screen in the bracket. The Gateway Center erupted. All pressure had been relieved. I could finally breathe. My heart stopped racing. This was the best thing to ever happen to me in my career. Surreal moment. Everything I had ever dreamed of since I was four years old was coming to life in front of me.
A day filled with emotion has finally come to an end in the best way possible. With the best thing to ever happen to me, the Pokes still have business to take care of.
