LARAMIE, Wyo. (11/3/22) – The University of Wyoming women's swimming & diving team continues its busy stretch of meets this week. The Cowgirls travel to Colorado State on Saturday at 12 p.m. inside Moby Pool.

This marks the conclusions of a hectic last month for Wyoming. The Cowgirls have competed in four dual meets in each of the last three weeks.

With Saturday being the final dual meet until January, head coach Dave Denniston would like his women's team to show its very best against its biggest rival.

"I want to see all of our women compete at their highest level," Denniston said. "We have had some great swims this fall, but a lot of our new talent needs to shine. Our divers have to perform at a high level, and we have to be sharp on relays."

The Cowgirls aren't far removed from another rivalry, which took place last week. Wyoming fell to Air Force last Saturday, but it was a meet's result that was in doubt heading into the competition's last couple of races.

If this year's edition of the Border War is anything like last year, it will be another closely-contested contest. The Rams took last year's meeting, 152-148, at Laramie High School, halting a streak of seven straight victories for the Cowgirls in the series.

"CSU is a very good team," Denniston said. "It's going to take everyone on our team to perform at their best to beat them, and I believe our women can do that."

Saturday's meet will be the standard 16-event schedule. It will feature the 1,000-yard freestyle and the 400-yard individual medley.

Following the dual in Fort Collins, Colorado, Wyoming closes its fall season at an invitational later this month. Both the men's and women's teams travel to Dallas, Texas, for the SMU Invitational from Nov. 17-19.
