DALLAS, Texas (11/18/22) – The University of Wyoming swimming and diving team completed Day 2 of the SMU Invitational inside Robson & Lindley Aquatics Center and Barr-McMillion Natatorium. And similar to Day 1, Wyoming boasted a victor.
Quinn Cynor claimed first place in the 200-yard freestyle. He swam a 1:36.62.
"Quinn Cynor winning the 200 free was the highlight," head coach
Dave Denniston said. "We continue to have the majority of the team dropping times today, and some great times that will rank high in both conferences. We really worked on managing our time and energy at this meet, and we are seeing the results with fast swims."
Cynor wasn't alone in the A final of the 200 free. Gavin Smith and
Harry Tjaden took fifth and eighth, respectively, with times of 1:37.77 and 1:39.36.
That was just the tip of the iceberg, as Wyoming enjoyed a night full of A finalists.
The 200-yard medley relay team of Cynor,
Grant Sloan, Smith and Matt Lang took fifth with a time of 1:28.13. Charlie Clark touched sixth in the 400-yard individual medley, swimming a time of 3:52.40, and Sloan finished seventh in the 100-yard breaststroke, clocking in at 55.67.
Sydney Metzler clocked in at 4:25.27 in the 400-yard IM to take sixth, and Kayla Cunningham wasn't far behind in seventh at 4:26.25. Maisyn Klimczak finished sixth in the 200-yard freestyle after swimming a time of 1:49.71, and
Kali Franckowiak placed eighth at 1:49.92.
The 800-yard freestyle relay team of Carly Palmer, Franckowiak, Brook Ford and Klimczak capped the day with a fourth-place finish at 7:22.21. The men's relay team consisting of Clark, Tjaden, Smith and Cynor touched runner-up with a time of 6:32.06.
Wyoming finishes up competition at the SMU Invite on Saturday at 9 a.m. with preliminary races.
