LAS VEGAS, Nev. (1/28/22) – The University of Wyoming swimming & diving team wrapped up its first day of a meet involving UNLV and Hawaii in Las Vegas on Friday night. The Cowgirls trail both the Rainbow Warriors and the Rebels by scores of 114-34 and 76-70, while the Cowboys trail those two squads 110-38 and 78-71.

Thomas Diaz highlighted the night for Wyoming. He touched first in the 200-yard individual medley, boasting a time of 1:54.22.

As a whole, Wyoming began the meet strong in the 1,000-yard freestyle. Both the men's and women's side placed third and fourth in their respective event.

Maisyn Kilmczak took third with a time of 10:30.92, and Sage Morton placed fourth, boasting a time of 10:33.71. Ryan Netzel touched third, clocking in with a time of 9:53.03, while Daniel Cumnock-Francois placed fourth in a time of 9:55.03.

Wyoming had a number of other swimmers place fourth on Friday. Luke Walker did so in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 1:52.16.

Andrea Neimann placed fourth in the 200-yard IM, coming in with a time of 2:07.70. Carly Palmer swam a 1:05.35 in the 100-yard breaststroke to take fourth, and Katelyn Blattner touched fourth in the 100-yard backstroke after swimming a time of 57.39.

The men's 200-yard freestyle relay claimed the best relay finish for Wyoming on Friday. The collection of Gavin Smith, Max DeYoung, Quinn Teller and Grant Sloan took runner-up in a time of 1:23.78.

Competition at UNLV continues Saturday at 11 a.m.
