COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — University of Wyoming men's Cross Country runner Seth Bruxvoort has been named as the Mountain West Men's Athlete of the Week by the conference as announced on Tuesday September 7th.

Bruxvoort a redshirt sophomore from Fort Collins, Colo., ran a 15 minute flat 5K at the Wyoming Invite on Saturday morning in Cheyenne, Wyo., at the Little America Golf Course to finish in second place after a weather delay pushed the race back from Friday night.

Bruxvoort outpaced the third place runner from Colorado State by .04 seconds to lead the way for the Cowboys and help the Pokes earn a second place finish in the race besting teams from Western Colorado and Northern Colorado.

"Seth has put in a tremendous amount of work and is in a great place physically, but I was impressed with how he competed mentally," said Head Cross Country Coach Scott Dahlberg. He continued, "There were a few places in the race it could have been easy to back off and let it get away but he hung tough, stayed focused and pushed the last half mile very well."

Bruxvoort is the first Cross Country athlete from Wyoming to earn the weekly honor since Paul Roberts back on September 10, 2019.

The Cowboys and Cowgirls will both get ready for their next race on September 24th at the Griak Invitational in St. Paul, Minnesota.
