Laramie, Wyo. (Sept. 24, 2021) --  Cowboy Jimmy Dales fired a second round of 70 (-2) on Friday at the William H. Tucker Invitational and moved up 35 spots in the individual standings on way to a tie for 21st place entering Saturday's final round.  The tournament is being played at the University of New Mexico Championship Golf Course.
 
Dales made five birdies, 10 pars and three bogeys in Friday's afternoon round to record the two under par round.  He opened the tournament with a 75 (+3) in the morning round to give him a 36-hole total of 145 (+1).  Dales is only three shots out of the Top 10.
 
As a team, the Cowboys shot an opening round of 300 (+12) and a second round of 303 (+15) to put them in 16th place out of 18 teams at 603 (+27).      
 
"I saw moments of good play from our guys today, but we didn't play well as a team," said Joe Jensen, University of Wyoming Director of Golf and Head Men's Golf Coach.  "We couldn't really get anything going as a team.  Jimmy (Dales) had a nice round in the afternoon, and I believe a lot of our guys are really close to getting their games together.
 
"The focus now is on Saturday's round.  We need to play more consistently.  We need to play tougher Saturday and not get down when we have a bad hole.  I'm positive about the guys on this team, and I'm going to encourage them to challenge themselves tomorrow and see if we can move up the standings." 
 
The tournament is being played on the UNM Championship Golf Course.  The course measures 7,555 yards and plays to a par of 72.  The third and final round will tee off on Saturday morning beginning at 7:45 a.m., M.T.
