LOGAN, Utah (April 24, 2021) – The Wyoming tennis team made it six straight victories Saturday, behind the strength of a 4-1 win over Boise State, in a neutral-site match hosted by Utah State. With the win, UW is currently on the fourth-longest winning streak in program history. With a win Sunday, the Cowgirls would up their winning streak to seven consecutive matches, which would tie for the third-best streak all time.

"The girls got after it today, on all lines from doubles to singles," said Head Coach Dean Clower.

"I've been telling the girls all year, that effort wins, and that's what happened today. We are growing daily and just now, starting to hit our stride."

The Cowgirls (12-6, 6-2 MW) started the day by winning the doubles point for the fifth consecutive match, as UW got 6-4 wins at both No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. The teams of Ana Fernandez and Sophie Zehender and Mihaela Kaftanova and Ida Krause earned the wins, respectively. With their wins at doubles, both tandems improved to 8-2 in their last 10 matches as teammates, while Kaftanova and Krause have now won six in-a-row.

In singles play, Noesjka Brink got the clinching point for the Cowgirls at the fourth spot, as she rallied from a first set loss to win in three sets, 4-6, 6-4 and 6-1 to secure the match point for UW. Brink now leads Wyoming with 11 wins in the spring and has won eight of her last 10 singles matches overall.

The Cowgirls also got wins at No. 2 and No. 5 to defeat the Broncos. Maria Oreshkina won at the No. 2 spot over Pauline Ernstberger, 6-1 and 7-6 (7-1).  While at the fifth position, Lucia Malinak won her sixth-straight match with a 7-5, 6-2 over Shauna Heffernan.

Wyoming closes the season Sunday, looking to make it seven consecutive victories and finish the season in second in the Mountain West standings as the Cowgirls will face host-Utah State at 1 p.m.
