LARAMIE, Wyo. (April 22, 2021) – The Wyoming Cowgirl tennis team closes its 2021 season this weekend with a trip to Logan, Utah for matches Saturday and Sunday against Boise State and host-Utah State, respectively.

The Cowgirls (11-6, 5-2 MW) enter the season finale on a five-match winning streak. UW and Boise State will face-off April 24 at 2 p.m., while the Cowgirls and Aggies will play one another at 1 p.m., April 25. With a pair of wins this weekend, Wyoming can finish in second place in the league standings.

Wyoming is coming off a pair of wins last weekend down in Fort Collins, Colo., as the Cowgirls won a hard-fought thriller over UNLV Saturday, with a 4-3 victory. The Cowgirls then closed the weekend by making quick work of San Diego State, winning 4-0 on Sunday. Lucia Malinak led the Cowgirls with a pair of victories at No. 5 singles against the Lady Rebels and Aztecs, and has won five consecutive singles matches.

Boise State is 11-5 overall and 5-3 in league play entering this weekend's competition and is 3-1 in neutral-site matches. The Broncos split last weekend at Fresno State, defeating Nevada 4-1 before falling to host-Fresno State, 4-3.

The Aggies are 7-11 and 2-6 in the Mountain West coming into the weekend and is 2-3 at home in 2021 and closed last week with a 4-3 victory over Nevada. Sunday's match against Utah State can be followed via live stats HERE.

San Jose State has all but clinched the Mountain West's regular season title this spring, needing to win just once this weekend to secure it. The Cowgirls are currently a half match behind Fresno State and UNLV for second in the league, but hold the tiebreaker over both thanks to victories earlier this season against the two.
