RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. (April 21, 2021) – The Wyoming Cowgirl Golf team finished up play at the Mountain West Championship on Wednesday afternoon at the par-72, 6,270-yard Dinah Shore Tournament Course at Mission Hills Country Club.

"We gave it a run today, played well today and beat some teams for today's round," head coach Josey Stender said. "I am very proud of their heart and effort to turn it around after our first round. This is a tremendously talented conference and I'm excited for our future as a team and individually."

As a team, the Cowgirls placed ninth at the event following a week best 16-over, 304 in their final round and recorded a better round than five teams on the day. It was their best round since the 2019 tournament when they shot a 17-over, 305 in the second round. Wyoming ended the week with a 64-over, 928 for their 54-hole score to place ninth. New Mexico took the conference team title at 19-over (883) and Sarah Kjellker of San Diego State claimed the individual title with a one-over, 217.

Graduate student Erin Sargent also completed her week in a tie for 22nd with a three round score of 12-over, 228 (76-75-77). She shot a final round of five-over, 77.

"I'm sad to see Caitlyn (Skavdahl) and Erin (Sargent) graduate but couldn't be more proud of the young women they are. They both truly represent the best of our program and have been a part of every significant record on the course and in the classroom. They are going to do amazing things as Cowgirl alumni."

Sophomore Samantha Hui wrapped up her second championship with a third round score of five-over, 77, while finishing her week 18-over, 234 (83-74-77) and tied for 32nd.
