COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (March 15, 2021) – Sophomore libero Erika Jones has been named this week's Mountain West Defensive Player of the Week for her performance over the weekend at Fresno State. It is the first weekly honor of Jones' career and second time this season that a Cowgirl took home the league's weekly defensive award.

Against the Bulldogs this past weekend, Jones led the way with 42 total digs in the two matches, for a 4.67 digs per set average. Jones began the series with a career-best 24 digs in Friday's five-set match and then followed that up with an 18-dig effort in Saturday's win.

Jones also had four assists and an ace against Fresno State and joins Kaitlyn Gehler as UW Cowgirls to receive defensive player of the week honors this season.

Jones and the rest of the Wyoming Cowgirl volleyball team have just one match this week, a Saturday contest against Nevada at 1 p.m., inside the UniWyo Sports Complex.
