Colorado Springs, Colo. — The University of Wyoming Track & Field Teams wrapped up day two of competition at the Championships at the Peak meet held in the Cadet Field House at the Air Force Academy on Friday.

Sitting in third place heading into the final day tomorrow with 39.5 team points, the Cowboys turned in some impressive individual performances. Headlined by William Nolan taking first place in the Long Jump with a mark of 24-3.5. That's just 0.25 feet off his personal record and the 10th best at UW.

"Will had a break through today, not necessarily in performance but more so in the way he competed and stepping up when pressured, he lost the lead I believe 3 times in the last round and prevailed on his last jump," said Associate Head Coach Quincy Howe. "The long jump is about precision and trying to run uncontrollably faster rarely reveals the results you want. Will executed better, something we have been preaching for a while and it is awesome to see it pay off for him."

The first competition was the final three events of the Heptathlon with the men's Weight Throw. Cowboys Hap Frketich and Kirk Unland put the first Wyoming points on the board with a pair of strong throws finishing four-five in the event. Both Frketich and Unland posted the second-best marks of their careers with a 67-8.25 and 65-6.75 respectively.

Sage Coventry closed out the Heptathlon with a time of 2:57.21 in the 1000 meters and wrapped up the event with 4,704 points, the ninth-best all-time score at UW. Coventry and teammate Bryson Engebretson finished the event in ninth and tenth place.

Competing in his first meet of the season, senior Chris Henry took second place in the 5000 meter race with an altitude adjusted time of 14:33.51. Henry scored eight points for the Cowboys with his performance, while freshman Samuel Schneider notched the Pokes 5.5 points with his third place finish in the High Jump. Schneider set a new PR with a mark of 6-6.75.

Sadie McMullen and Shayla Howell went five-six in the women's Long Jump earning the Cowgirls four and three points. McMullen with a mark of 19-0.75 and Howell at 18-10, were two of four Cowgirls to earn points for Wyoming today.

Addison Henry with her sixth place finish in the Weight Throw with a mark of 55-4.75 and Kayla Stibley's eighth place finish in the Pole Vault got the Cowgirls to a total of 11 points as they sit in fifth place at the end of day two.
