Wyoming Track & Field Ready for the Championships at the Peak

LARAMIE, Wyo. — The University of Wyoming Track & Field teams will compete at the Cadet Field House in Colorado Springs, Colo., at the Championships at the Peak meet this week from Thursday-Saturday in the final indoor meet of the 2021 season. 
 
This will be the third indoor meet of the season for the Cowboys and Cowgirls. 

Following the Power Meet that was held in Laramie on Feb. 5, six Cowboys are ranked in the NCAA Top 75 of their respective events heading into the weekend, led by senior Hap Frketich, who ranks 30th in the Weight Throw. Frketich is joined by fellow thrower Kirk Unland (67th), a bevy of long jumpers; Hunter Brown (60th), Kareem Mersal (66th) and William Nolan (67th) who also ranks 70th in the Triple Jump. Bryson Engebretson rounds out the group with the 73rd mark in the Heptathlon with 4707 points, which was set in Colorado Springs during the first meet of the year. 
 
IN THE FIELD 
 
Teams heading to the Championships at the Peak includes seven top-25 nationally ranked teams including Oregon (No. 1 men, No. 9 women), USC (No. 5 women), BYU (No. 6 men, No. 8 women), USC (No. 13 men), Colorado (No. 18 women), Arizona State (No. 20 men), Arizona (No. 25 women). Eight Mountain West teams will be participating, (Air Force, Colorado State, Fresno State, Nevada, New Mexico, UNLV, Utah State, Wyoming) along with SMU, Tulane, Wichita State, Northern Arizona, Northern Colorado, Grand Canyon, California and Stanford.

THURSDAY: 11:00 a.m.: Men's Heptathlon (60-Meter Dash, Long Jump, Shot Put, High Jump); 11:15 a.m.: Women's Pentathlon (60-Meter Hurdles, High Jump, Shot Put, Long Jump, 800-Meter Run; FRIDAY: 9:00 a.m.: Men's Heptathlon (60-Meter Hurdles, Pole Vault, 1000-Meter Run); 9:00 a.m.: Men's Weight Throw; 10:00 a.m.: Men's High Jump; 11:15 a.m.: 5000-Meter Run, 60-Meter Hurdles (qualifying); 12:30 p.m.: Women's Long Jump; 12:30 p.m.: Women's Weight Throw; 12:40 p.m.: 60-Meter Dash (qualifying); 1:30 p.m.: Women's Pole Vault; 2:30 p.m.: 400-Meter Dash (qualifying); 3:00 p.m.: Men's Long Jump; 3:30 p.m.: 200-Meter Dash (qualifying), Distance Medley Relay; SATURDAY: 10:00 a.m.: Men's Shot Put; 10:00 a.m.: Women's High Jump; 12:30 p.m.: Women's Shot Put; 12:30 p.m.: Women's Triple Jump; 1:00 p.m.: Men's Pole Vault; 1:00 p.m.: Mile Run, 60-Meter Hurdles, 400-Meter Dash, 60-Meter Dash; 2:30 p.m.: Men's Triple Jump; 2:35 p.m.: 800-Meter Run, 200-Meter Dash, 3000-Meter Run, Mile Relay (women will compete first in all running events).
