LARAMIE, Wyo. (Feb. 24, 2021) – The Wyoming volleyball team looks to rebound from its first setback of the season this weekend as the Cowgirls welcome Border Rival Colorado State to the UniWyo Sports Complex for a pair of matches February 26 and 27, both starting at 6 p.m.

The Cowgirls (4-2) are coming off a pair of losses on the road last weekend to conference-leading Boise State, having lost in three sets in Friday's match and having their comeback fall short in Saturday's four-set defeat. Freshman Corin Carruth was a bright spot against the Broncos for UW, as she tied for the team lead in kills in both matches, tallying six on Friday and 10 in Saturday's contest. Carruth also averaged 2.3 digs per set and had four total blocks over the weekend.

Despite faltering last week, the Cowgirls still rank second in the league in both blocks per set (2.9) and opponent hitting percentage (.154) while hitting .213 as a team, a mark that ranks fourth-best in the Mountain West.

Faith Waitsman and Jackie McBride both rank in the top-10 in the league in blocks so far this season, ranking second and seventh, respectively. Waitsman is averaging 1.29 per set while McBride comes in at 1.14 per. The duo also leads the team and rank high in the league in hitting percentage in 2021 as Waitsman is seventh at .337 and McBride is eighth at a .336 clip. McBride also ranks fourth in the league in service aces per set at .43.

The defending champion and preseason favorite Rams (3-3), are led by Preseason Mountain West Player of the Year Breana Runnels, who ranks fifth in the conference with 3.68 kills per set and 4.16 points per. Sasha Colombo leads CSU and is third in the league with a .385 hitting percentage while setter Ciera Zimmerman ranks second in the league averaging 9.59 assists per set. In the back row, libero Alexa Roumeliotis leads the league averaging 4.86 digs per set.

Colorado State is fourth in the MW with 12.36 kills per set and is third averaging 2.05 service aces per. CSU's .213 hitting percentage is tied for fourth in the league along with the Cowgirls. The Rams are averaging 11.32 assists per set, which also ranks fourth in the conference. The Rams are the three-time defending Mountain West regular season champions.

Both of this weekend's matches will be broadcast live on the Mountain West Digital Network.
