Marco Machado has been nominated by the UW Department of Chemical Engineering for this year's Wyoming Engineering Society (WES) Student Engineer of the Year Award.
Machado is one of eight nominees for this year's Wyoming Engineering Society award. Each of the eight programs within the UW College of Engineering nominates their top graduating senior for the annual award. The eight UW engineering programs include: architectural engineering, chemical engineering, civil engineering, computer engineering, electrical engineering, energy systems engineering, mechanical engineering and petroleum engineering.
Machado joined the Wyoming Football program in 2018 from his hometown of Waco, Neb., where he graduated from Nebraska Lutheran High School. He has played in all 10 games on special teams for the Wyoming Cowboys this season. Machado is also a back-up center for the Cowboys. He currently carries a 3.988 cumulative grade-point average as a chemical engineering major at UW.
The Wyoming Engineering Society Scholarships and Awards Committee reviews each nominee's written nomination forms and interviews each of the nominated students to determine the Student Engineer of the Year. The recipient of the Student Engineer of the Year Award receives an unrestricted grant of $2,500 and each of the seven other honorees receive a $1,250 grant. The WES sponsors all nominees to attend the annual convention to be recognized at the Awards Banquet.
The 2022 Wyoming Engineering Society Convention will be held Feb. 2-4, 2022, in Sheridan, Wyo.
